Week 3 - Shadows and Light ponder

Over the next two weeks, Kaiwhare class will be learning about light and shadows. We have started by exploring some journal stories, experiments and online activities on Sciencekids.co.nz.   We also have a blog ponder to share our knowledge and ideas. Please contribute to our online discussion in a Cybersmart way. Remember to have a buddy check your post to see that it makes sense and that you have used punctuation correctly.

  5. We get day and night because we live on a spinning planet also the sun is the closest star to us. Nothing in the universe travels faster than light and the light bounces of everything so we can see things.

  12. Our Sun makes light for everyone.
Shadows are good for cooling down and for shade. Also they are made from the sun when it reflects off trees, houses, and cars. Shadow's are good for life because our plants need shadows and to protect animals and nature. Shadows can be used for lots of things.

  13. When it is a sunny day and a little bit rainy the light from the sun reflects on the raindrops and creates a rainbow in the sky. Glass and water in light makes a rainbow as well if it is on a white surface. Light and Shadows are cool.

  16. Hi Te Ana Ako, I'm Ari. I go to Waikowhai Primary School. Here's some stuff I know about Light & Shadows: 1. You can make a 'Gnomon' which is a type of ancient sundial that uses a triangle on a circular slab to measure time. The shadow on a Gnomon will point to a marking on the slab, EG: It would point at 'XI' meaning that it's 11 O'Clock. I would write more but I'm running out of space. It is so cool that you guys are learning about this stuff. Please check out my blog Here: https://wpsarim.blogspot.com/ Bye!
